Leather

The leather that are used for our bags and shoes comes from cows that are treated normally and farmed when they are alive, the cows are slaughtered for the meat and the skin is a by-product waste which then is sold as raw skin. For HILDEBRAND products we work with tanneries which are audited and are REACH Compliant, which addressing the production and use of chemical substance and their potential impact on both human health as well as the environment. The tannery have a waste disposal / recycling system in place. All the tanneries we use are members of the Leather Working Group (LWG) as GOLD or SILVER rated. We have choosen to do vegetable tanning for our products.
Leather bags are susceptible to absorbing grease and oils. Wipe the leather bag with a soft clean dry cloth. Store the leather purse in a dust bag or wrapped in natural-fabric.You can wrap the metallic parts in a clean dry tissue paper. If you have just cleaned you bag, allow it to air dry completely before storage. If you are storing long-term. ease open the buckles and straps so impressions are released. This help to avoid rubbing or permanent creases in unwanted areas. Clean suede parts with suede brush to remove dust. Keep suede dry. Water will discolor it. Rub a clean eraser over stained areas.

Cotton

Organic cotton is grown without chemical pesticides, fertilizers and genetically modified crops. All HILDEBRANDS canvas products are made from organic cotton in India. In cooperation with our suppliers, we can ensure the highest quality, reasonable wages and good working conditions.
Cotton canvas is extremely durable and long-lived. Fades from sunlight, loving wear, and repeated washes are all part of the charm. Our dark-colored fabrics will fade, but we have with time developed a color that is more longlived than normal coloring. However, to avoid excessive fading, keep your bags out of direct sunlight and salty water.
A stain doesn’t necessarily mean you have to machine wash your item. Often times a careful spot cleaning is enough. Our canvas bags also often have details in genuine leather, which means that washing is not preferable.

Nylon

Nylon is the name of a family of synthetic polymers that are commonly used to make a variety of different types of apparel and consumer goods. Unlike other organic or semi-synthetic fibers, nylon fibers are entirely synthetic, which means that they have no basis in organic material
Recycled nylon is produced from post-industrial waste or from discarded nylon-based products. In addition to their environmental friendliness, the recycled nylon fibers are both strong, light and durable.
Nylon fabrics have low resistance to sunlight and tend to weaken and may become discolored on direct exposure to it. For drying purposes, it is better to avoid sunlight and dry it in the shade. Nylon is also heat sensitive, and thus high temperatures may cause it to shrink, loosen, or discolor. Thus, exposing the fabric to high temperatures should be avoided.
Usually, dirt does not cling to nylon fabrics, thus making it easy to clean it. However, in cases of severe dirt and soil removal, a pretreatment would be required. That is, prepare a thick paste of detergent and water and apply it on the soiled areas using a soft brush. Then, soak it for about 10-15 minutes in detergent water. You can then proceed with the normal washing procedure.
